There are two major subscriptions licensing options for Revit; Single-user Standalone license and Multi-user Network license. Prior to the expiration of your license, Revit will send you renewal notifications and instructions 90, 45, 30, and 4 days before the expiration date. It is also possible to cancel a subscription before it expires.
Canceled or expired subscriptions cannot be restarted. You have to buy a new subscription to continue access. All subscription plans come with a lineup of benefits.
As earlier stated, Revit Revit subscriptions are available as two major types of licenses; Single-user access Standalone license and Multi-user access Network license. With this license, a single user can install and use Revit in up to three devices. For example, a work computer, a home computer, and a portable PC. This license cannot be shared by other users and us best suited for personal use. For an organization that is on single-user access subscription but requires more seats, additional standalone licenses can be bought and assigned to individual users.
If you are using a standalone license, you need to connect to the internet every 30 days in order to maintain an active status. A multi-user access subscription allows multiple users on a single local area network LAN or a virtual private network VPN to have joint access to a single Revit network license.
This license is perfect for teams of users as Revit can be installed on as many devices as possible. However, there is a limit on the number of simultaneous users, depending on the number of seats purchased. For example, you subscribe for multi-user access and purchase 10 seats; your company has 15 devices and 13 employees using Revit. You can install the software on all 15 computers, with all your 13 employees having access. However, only 10 of them would be able to use the software at a time.
The distribution of licenses to users on a network is controlled by the network license manager NLM , installed on one or more servers.
When a user on the network starts up Revit, the application request for a license from the license server. If a seat is available, the NLM assigns a license to the requesting computer. You do not require an internet connection to use or activate network licenses since they are assigned by the NLM.
